I have always wondered what Jen's vocie is classified as :
Amy Winehouse has a "Contralto" singing voice - the deepest female singing voice.
Beyonce has a "Messo Soprano" singing voice - so she lies between a Contralto and Soprano so it is deep but can go high.
Mariah has an "alto" or "Soprano" singing voice she can reach the highest notes.
Has anyone read what Jen is classified as?

I guess she would be a mezzo-soprano a lot of other pop singers are in this category - Gwen Stefani, Selena, Janet Jackson.

^ i'm surprised that Selena is in that same category but yeah Jen, is probably like Gwen Stefani, but Gwen's voice is Deeper if that make sense.

^ Beyonce is mezzo soprano as well. I think basically most people are mezzo-soprano unless they are really distinctive like Amy Winehouse is very low and
Mariah is very high.
The mezzo-soprano is the most common female voice There are different chategories of mezzo-soprano.

A coloratura mezzo-soprano has a warm lower register and an agile high register. The roles they sing often demand not only the use of the lower register but
also leaps into the upper tessitura with highly ornamented, rapid passages.
A dramatic mezzo-soprano has a strong medium register, a warm high register and a voice that is broader and more powerful than the lyric and coloratura mezzo-sopranos. I think a lot of her best signing is in her lower register- like QH - the verses of 'I need love' or 'He'll be back'. I dont think a song like GR played to her singing strengths even though I love the track it forces her into her higher register all the time. So it starts to get strained.

We can't be sure about her highest and lowest note and her vocal range, because we don't know if she showed so far all of her range, I mean maybe she
can hit a highest or lowest note than G5 and G3, who knows ...

Soubrette does sound about right - A sunny high voice with a limited range.
A 2 octave range isn't that bad though. It does say in the description that younger women are usually soubrette. I have always thought her vocie sounds very young even for her age. If I heard her singing without seeing her I would definately think she is young like early twenties. So maybe she was a suberette and has matured a bit into a mezzo sopprano. I read an article about singing and It said that your sining voice usually peaks or gets to its strongest in your late thirties although everyone is different dependent on how much you have used it during your life. I always notice that some critics jump on Mariah and say she is loosing her singing voice - but it is true that you can lose some of your vocal ability when you ghet older. So it could be ture that Jen is starting to just reach her top singing strength now. I think Rihanna is still waiting for her voice to mature. |

i think it's possible she seem to have a larger range than Jen. even if she Rarely sings live. which to me doesn't mean she has a better voice.

I would kinda guess Britney has a one octave range lol.
Its all just speculation. I would really like to know from a professional opinion what her voice is and her top vocal range. I do think though that peoples voices can mature and she has got better since the start of her career from not singing live to now being good live.
