Blu ray and hd dvd are 2 different formats. Like VHS and Betamax are 2 different formats. But both offer similar level of quality.
Baically its a format war between rival company sony and crew vs toshiba, which started couple of years ago. Blu ray won the format war. So all new HD release will be on blu ray discs. |

Also the Blu-Ray movies look better than DVD (on a 1080p tv and HDMI connections), once you go HD you'll never go back. Anything else than HD is like
looking at Youtube video quality in my eyes. Plus the PS3 is affordable IMO, you get your money's worth, a blu-ray player and high definition video games.

Blu ray is generally more expensive, but a blu ray disc holds 50GB wheres hd dvd disc holds 20 gb. No doubt blue ray is better because of the space. Less
compression means better quality. Hd dvd used compressed data to fit everything on to the disc.
Most people use ps3s as blu ray players. |

yeah, but blue ray will be out for a while cause for them to create something more advanced will take some years. Now only if blue-ray players were less
expensive i would get one. lol
