November 19, 2009. Today is a sad day for hip hop. MediaTakeOut.com's insiders tell us that absent some EXTRAORDINARY uptick in sales, 50's new album Before I Self Destruct will sell only 150,000 copies in its first week.
To put that in perspective, Rick Ross last album Deeper Than Rap sold 158,000 units in its first week.
What happened?? It's not clear, but we think that 50 spent the last couple of years doing everything EXCEPT making good music and he lost all his momentum.
He also CONFUSED his audience. I mean one day you hear him on FOX Business talking about how he's this great businessman, then the next day he releases some music where he tells you he's a goon.
In either case, it's sad to see 50 fall off this hard. Hopefully dude will put down all his other stuff and concentrate on making music. It's never too late for a comeback.
