CAUM was her passion project. She spent YEARS to made that album. and she forgot that project after 2 weeks of promotion.
(oh,and 7 months later,she filmed second video)

At that point it was Epic's property, though. That was their decision.

but it was her career.

I truly don't know what you expect her to do. If it were so easy, everyone would sell millions of songs.


Anyway, back to the topic, I don't think Shakira has ever been particularly famous in the US? I think Hips Don't Lie was pretty much it, no? I don't know, lol.

That's how I also feel about Shakira.

I don't think she's as big of a superstar as Jennifer Lopez is. Before "Hips Don't Lie" she really was a nobody since "Whenever Whereever" (more famous in spanish speaking countires) although she had some Top 40 hits but when she was #1 with "Hips Don't Lie" she was big but then she sorta died down in the U.S. and aside from her other song that collabo with Beyonce.

I don't know how big she is in other countries but I wouldn't say in the U.S. that she's a "huge" star.

Between Jennifer Lopez and Shakira I think J.Lo is bigger star and seller (aside from Brave because lack of promotion and I do kind of blame her spanish album on those sales also because it did confuse many fans) but whether she's out or not she's A-List and part of pop culture... basically I don't know anyone who doesn't know Jennifer Lopez any nationality.

As for "She Wolf" I don't know where you guys get your information but from what I hear alot of fans didn't like the song becasue she was trying hard to fit into the current sound so I wouldn't call it smash lol that's sort of a "stretch" don't you think? it was mediocre and the video... what was up with her dance moves in the video? She basically let people realize she can't dance. Stick to shaking ya hips girl lol

I don't hate on Shakira.. she's ok. Her music just isn't my cup of tea. And as a latino I believe she's more popular in the U.S. because of her latin fans... before "Hips Dont Lie" it was mostly her latin fans buying her albums... she's just not a huge seller.

If her new album flopped I'm not suprised... this isn't crazy news to me.
