If I had a choice (even though I want them to both do great) I would rather TBUP is a big success than her music. I know a lot of people might not agree, but I really want to see her start doing well as an actress, as I think a movie career is better for longevity rather than pop music which is really difficult for anyone I think its too late to save her movie career. She'll always be remembered 'Gigli actress' no matter what she does. TBUP might be #1 and it wouldn't change anything... But on the other hand, music is different. You can always make comeback and it doesn't even matter if you had flop albums.

Oh my gosh, no way. I totally disagree! In general, celebs are only as good as their last hit, but it's SO much easier for her to do well in movies. Even
after Gigli her movies did well. It was just the independent films that flopped, but with the distribution, that was to be expected.

mEm wrote: Funny i feel the same but i'll switch movies by music and vise versa in your sentence! i've more faith in her film career than music, she hasn't done much movies though to get back on track she just need to do more of them and get that role that will revive her career it happened to a lot of actors. And despite Gigli ect she's still more respected has an actress than singer and still have more succes with them (the studio ones) You can always make comeback and it doesn't even matter if you had flop albums.i disagree with that too both her career are at the
same point both aren't in good shape i'm sure she can come back strong but it definitely won't be easier with her music.
Well what H said !

^Love those Nadia! lol And I agree with Heather and Nadia. Being an actror (and a popular one at that) is easier to maintain a long and respectable career.
Look @ John Travolta. He's had up and downs in his movie career but not everyone is quick to think "Oh that guy from that flop movie, Battlefield
Earth'...and with music, if you keep trying and trying and nothing happens then (like Heather said) you'll look desperate like Janet.

I don't agree that she will always be remembered for Gigli, it affected her but I think her career has moved past it.
Its important to distinguish the type of criticsm she recieves in movies. She is considered a generally good actress then the criticsm revolves around whether its a good movie. Like with Gigli the critics didn't say she couldn't act it was more of a case they didn't like the movie. Compare that to Mariah Carey where the critics debate whether she can act or not regardless of the movie. Its just two different kinds of criticisms. No serious critics debate whether she can act but whether she as a good actress is in a good movie. I don't think its easy in both film or music to make a comeback. In the same way it only takes one song/album to be back in the game. It only takes one movie. I think music is harder not just for Jen but for everyone, because album sales are low everywhere. To get a hit album you have to promote it for like a year with 3/4 singles & videos and performances travel abroad. With a movie you can film it in 3 months and promote it for like 3 weeks and the jobs done and you get a massive return on the investment. Also if a movie isn't a hit you can release another in 6 months or a year. With music you have to wait a long time in between to make a come back. Like you can't do 3/4 albums in a year, but you can do 3/4 movies in a year so there are more chances to succeed and do well. |
