A rom-com has only the 2 element romance and comedy so that would be TWP, MM, MIL and TBUP. Jersey girl is a Dramedy like L&OIP would have been and i don't concidere SWD a rom-com either, the romance isn't in the center of the story.

Because even a Comedy Comedy contains Dramatic elements sometimes. I would say that Jen does like to have some kind of romance and comedy into her movies (the beginning of Enough for example). So just because the movie isnt labeled RomCom doesnt mean it doesnt contain those elements. I think thats what Ruru is saying. But I also dont think we need to keep pushing the issue because Jen in the end marks her own career path, not us.

Nothing new and different. She needs something very challenging. Something like her part in El Cantante. She so deserved an award for that part! Do some commercials too. So people that don't know she's still in the business, gets to see her.

One thing that I think people forget is that she can only rake roles she is offered. And something to consider is the following: Every studio in Hollywood has apparently refused to finance Ray director Taylor Hackford's latest pet project, a feature based on Georges Bizet's classic opera Carmen, starring Jennifer Lopez. Bizet's opera is a dark, tragic tale of a gypsy whose daliances with a soldier and a bullfighter bring down both men, and bring their respective political struggles to a head. Hackford says the suits are afraid of putting Lopez, whose fan base is largely comprised of teenage girls, into a serious, potentially R-rated project in which the heroine is eventually killed. "There is a great deal of fear in Hollywood," Hackford tells the NY Daily News, based on the fact that "many of the films are not working," with moviegoers. "We want to do a tough, hard version, but Hollywood thinks [Lopez'] audience is 13-year-old girls." That pretty much speaks for itself. And I truly don't think those films are romantic comedies. Are there romantic elements? Clearly, lol. But that's not what each movie is about.

Hmmm I think its her own choosing, and thats fine. When you like doing romcoms and other actresses are doing grittier roles then YES the directors are gonna go for the other actresses. But if Jen plays some really different roles I bet directors would be knocking on her door. But when I read other boards I can see what people are saying. And that is here comes J.Lo with another romantic comedy and you know what they are right. I love Jen and will support any movie she does (I saw Gigli twice in the theatre). But doesnt mean I wouldnt like to see her try something new for a change. I don't like Ms. Alba but she does try her hand at different things. I barely see her in romantic comedies.

And unfortunately Jen can't be compared with other atress of her generation either simply because she's also a Pop singer, and it's one of the reason she's note getting offered those 'gritty' roles she has a certain image, she said that the good offered from the big name directors pretty much stopped after the release of On the 6 so it's not as easier for her that it it is for other actress to get those roles, that's why she produced her last 2 drama.
