surely with the passion projects (caum, bordertown, ec)yeah but she was still doing the other stuff i mean in 2007 she had Caum, EC but also Brave so that's not really repositioning yourself if she wanted that she would have focus in the serious a little more it doesn't take 1 or 2 projects to gain some respect back. But i don't think that's what she wants, she want it all and probably always will. |

But it extends further back, I think. AUL, Bordertown, CAUM, and EC, PLUS she stayed out of the press. And still, it backfired. She did it for 4 years. I definitely think she wants it ALL. I don't think she thought "Oh, if I sing, people won't take me seriously as an actress". I think she thought people would take her seriously as both. |

I don't know. I always think that with music, it's harder to say what is GREAT. Like, what all these music critics love just varies so much. I mean,
Rihanna get's good reviews, right? And that nasal voice is just so tiring. And her songs are silly, I think. And Britney is another one. Blackout got
amazing reviews depsire the subject matter? It's just weird, lol.
Still, I think that she tried to change her image after she married Marc. I mean, up until now she managed to stay off of tabloid covers for 4 years. I mean, there was always the occasional one, but never like this. Her bad press HAS to be managed. It's really going to hurt her career if she doesn't. It's easy to ignore from her LI estate and all, but every one else is hearing about it. |

Oh, yeah. With music, it's like, get yourself out there, perform everywhere, you want the song to be in everyone's head, etc. And with a serious acting
career, you don't want a lot of that, lol.

I dont know though.. Angelina Jolie is EVERYWHERE and she has been for a few years. It doesn't appear to have hurt her at all she is enjoying a great run
of alternating between box office smashes and crtically acclaimed movies.
She even had a bad rep before hand - wearing blood neclaces/billy bob/Tomb Raider movies/ being Bi-sexual/ Kissing her brother/ and in truth partially stealling Jen Aniston's husband. I thought her look at the GG was quite good. I LOVED it from the front. But I cringed at the love handle shot, which kinda cancelled out the whole effect. If I hadn't seen that I would give it an 'A'. It was like the Versace dress 'remixed'. |

I truly believe in 'The Secret', and with that said, I know that Jennifer Lopez is not done with until she wants to be done. If Jennifer REALLY WANTED
to get her career back, she certainly would. We must not be scared, because Jennifer is in charge of her life. I know I've mentioned this numerous times
before, but she just doesn't want the career anymore. You can tell with her career choices and even in interviews. She seriously looks tired, and I
don't blame her. I believe in a past interview, they asked her about work and she said something like "I wish I didn't have to go back."
Something to that effect, so that speaks volumes of where she is at in her life. Jennifer COULD turn her whole career around IF SHE WANTED TO. I still love
her and support her, but it's pretty much reality.

I dont think her success depends on the quality of her work anymore. People seem to have an aversion to her in general, created by overexposure of her personal life/ relationships, which has been carried over to her movies and music. Even if she was to quit music and only focus on serious films, how successful can she be even w/ the best work, if she doesn't gain more 'likeability' by the public. People don't seem to be rooting for her, which i don't think was the case before, regardless of what the critics say or her peers think of her talent. IMO, she doesn't have to choose between music and movies, her career can AND should include both, as long as people like what she's selling- which
used to happen regardless of what the product was. She's gotta win back fans. Sadly the 'diva' image has stuck for so long that i dont know how
she should go about doing that. Forget the critics for the moment- they're too subjective anyways.

I TOTALLY agree, DeAna. The general public doesn't like her anymore. All the diva stories and the stories about her excessive lifestyle, etc have soured
her public image. And that's why publicity and a great publicist are so important. Those things basically determine your career. Angelina has am AMAZING
publicist who was able to make people forget that she was a crazy weirdo who made out with her brother and wore a vial of blood around her neck. The New York
Times, I believe did a really extensive article on how she was able to recraft her image. It was posted here, I believe.
Do note, though, that her overexposure hasn't helped her movie career, though. All her movies tank unless she's playing a tough assassin or something to that effect. |

Oh, I was talking about Angelina, because James said all her movie are hits, and that's not the case.
But, yeah, Romantic Comedies were her most successful movies. It only makes sense to try to build on that.
