I agree that some of her songs require her to sing in a very high pitched voice. Still is an example. I don't like it when she goes that high.

I'm sure she knows. She must work a singing coach of some sort, so they would have classified her.

^ a 4-octave range is like Mariah Carey style. lol Men, unless they are opera singers, can't really do that.
A 2-octave range is pretty standard. Anyone singing could have that...a normal speaking range is about 1 to 1.5 octaves. |

Yeah, there you go - more than 3.5 octaves, if I remember my voice lessons correctly, is pretty exceptional.

Jen couldn't sing like that 4/5 years ago, her performance of Alive on Oprah was super flat compared to that so if she had 2 octave she probably has 2.5 now. |

superflygirl wrote: So what do you think Jen's is then? I think Marc could have a large octave range - I think his voice does sound like he is a male opera singer at times. I would have thought to be a professional singer you would have to have around 3 at least to be any good. |

I've read somewhere that Jen's high note, in a song, was in Que Hiciste.

I don't think her voice has improved or changed that much. I mean, of course it got more stronger, and now she can sing live while dancing, as much great
as if she lipsync. But for me is just the same sweet voice.

Her voice is MUCH stronger now, and honestly I think she sounds better live than recorded. I dunno why. Pink is the same way.
So what do you think Jen's is then? lol I don't know. I would guess a style of soprano, but I'm really not sure anymore. I think Marc has an excellent voice but it's definitely not "opera"-style, lol. There's no doubt he's an exceptional singer but I don't think he has a range bigger than 3, maybe 3.5 octaves. But then again, it's been a few years since my music theory classes so I don't know anymore. |

I don't think she pushed herself to the limit AT ALL. She had very little confidence in her singing skills. I firmly believe that Marc helped her realize
that she had a beautiful voice and that she had the ability to sing live and sing with her heart. Marc wrote "You Sang To Me" for her.

^ I agree. I think she was extremely insecure about her voice before, and she seems much more confident now.
