Maxed Out Mediterranean at Christian Dior Cruise

With newborns and subsequent sleepless nights on the agenda, new mothers Jennifer Lopez and Christina Aguilera took great interest in the leisurely looks
featured in John Galliano's Cruise 2009 collection for Christian Dior on Monday, May 12 at a restaurant under the 59th Street bridge in New York. A little
rest and relaxation in a floaty frock sitting poolside might be just the ticket for these two moms.
"Everything was so colorful," said Lopez post-show after crossing the runway to greet Aguilera, who she and husband Marc Anthony waved and smiled to
throughout the show. "I'm going backstage right now to try and get some of them!"
After fathers Marc Anthony and Jordan Bratman pulled out the modern-day equivalent of wallet photos from their pockets - except theirs were in the form of an
iPhone and Blackberry - the two couples went backstage to greet Galliano and get a closer look at the Spanish flamenco-themed collection.
Wide, swathy gypsy pants, off-the-shoulder ruffled tops, loose baby doll dresses and a diaphanous crepe belted caftan with a fall that extended from the
shoulders - Lopez pointed out one in lime to a friend seated next to her - along with empire-waist gowns and plenty of brightly colored tiered dresses in
preppy colors like fuchsia, lime and tangerine rounded out this fairly standard issue collection of resort wear that will work well whether you're lounging
in St. Tropez, Palm Beach or Greece.
A loose and comfortable voluminous silhouette ruled the runway here - great for hiding those post-pregnancy bulges, say - with enough flirty details like bows
at the waist or glitzy beaded embellishment to keep it from completely entering soccer mom territory.
After a lengthy pause once the show ended, John Galliano - still affecting the look of a slightly disheveled 18th century pirate - finally came out onto the
runway and took a grand bow.
