It did extremely well on DVD, but I don't remember the figures. It more than doubled the box office take on DVD, I believe. They spent like $15 million to
market the movie, supposedly.

EC did really well in areas with a large Spanish population like NY and Miami. The theaters in those areas were constantly sold out. On the other hand it did
poorly in my area. I think it was mostly due to the title being in Spanish and the fact that subject, Hector, wasn't really a household name like Ray was.
Plus the movie was bootlegged big time.
Jen's TV series South Beach is having reruns now on The Universal HD Network.

Ah, yes, the bootlegging was a huge problem. In Miami, I know there are a ton of little video stores where you can rent movies that are still in theaters.
Everyone does it. Leon Ichaso, who directed, even commented on that issue.

I'd say she knows how to mix it up with her indie movies and blockbuster smashes. She's already planning more indies along with smash blockbusters all while giving birth to twins. Why can't other female actresses take notes? |

Her other roles have flopped, though. And she's a media darling, so of course she got nominated. She was already nominated before, anyway.

^ they flopped but they were well reviewed and it's really important too, and she might have both box-office and nomination with the new Estwood they loved
it at Cannes.

Valid point.
Picking a good movie to do is do-able, because others do it consistently, but I can't imagine how. I mean, it depends on so much. How can you ensure that everyone is doing their job properly? lol |

Ahh, but those direcors who have consistently good films are few and far between. So many actors want to work with them, so I'm sure they can pick whoever
they want.
I wonder what kinds of roles she gets considered for. Unfortunately, I don't think any of the directors above would want her. Just because of the bad press. But, then, Angelina comes with so much baggage. But, she also has the awards to prove her worthiness, lol. |
