Ah, yes, the bootlegging was a huge problem. In Miami, I know there are a ton of little video stores where you can rent movies that are still in theaters. Everyone does it. Leon Ichaso, who directed, even commented on that issue.

EC did really well in areas with a large Spanish population like NY and Miami. The theaters in those areas were constantly sold out. On the other hand it did poorly in my area. I think it was mostly due to the title being in Spanish and the fact that subject, Hector, wasn't really a household name like Ray was. Plus the movie was bootlegged big time.

Jen's TV series South Beach is having reruns now on The Universal HD Network.

so according to DVD sales, if movie wasnt limited released it would be a hit and still it would be indipendent movie.... so bad company that provided marketing for them

It did extremely well on DVD, but I don't remember the figures. It more than doubled the box office take on DVD, I believe. They spent like $15 million to market the movie, supposedly.

No it wasnt a flop it was an independent film, so it cant reach the same sales as a big blockbuster movie. The money for marketing and promotion is not there for a smaller film like it is for a bigger film. It is also only released to limited theaters because of this.

I think there are few women over a certain age that keep getting a good chunk of good roles. They've usually earned them like Meryl Streep or these roles are usually scattered between hundreds of actresses throughout the years.

Men get great roles yearly, I think. Just think of most Oscar nominations in acting categories. Most of the older female actresses get nominated in the supporting category while there's maybe one older actress in the leading category. If you take out...
